As part of new and on-going dredging maintenance programs, Pacific EcoRisk has managed or participated in numerous dredged sediment evaluation projects, including:
preparation of Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs) and negotiation of SAPs with regulators, |
performance of field sampling, |
sample management, including preparation for physio/chemical and biological analyses, |
management of contract analytical labs, |
performance of toxicity testing (including solid-phase sediment tests with amphipods and polychaetes and suspended particulate phase (elutriate) tests with bivalve and echinoderm embryos), |
performance of bioaccumulation testing (including 28-day sediment bioaccumulation tests with polychaetes and bivalves), |
preparation and presentation of Data Reports, and negotiation of resultant dredging requirements with regulators, |
preparation of Tier I exclusions, and negotiation of acceptance with regulators. |
These sediment evaluations have been performed under the Inland Disposal Testing Manual, the Ocean Disposal Testing Manuals, and the Upland Disposal Testing Manual, as well as various Regional Implementation Manuals. Select projects for which our company has participated in are provided below: |

US ACOE-permitted Biological Testing of Dredged Sediments
As part of the USACE ongoing dredging main-tenance program for the Bodega Bay Harbor, Pacific EcoRisk performed biological testing of sediment samples, includ-ing solid-phase sediment tests with amphipods and polychaetes, suspended particulate phase (elutriate) tests with bivalve embryos, and 28-day sediment bioaccum-ula-tion tests with polychaetes and bivalves, following the ITM and OTM guidance manuals |

US ACOE-permitted Biological Testing of Dredged Sediments
As part of an on-going dredging program for the U.S. Navy’s Pearl Harbor Facility, Pacific EcoRisk is performing numerous solid-phase sediment test with amphipods, suspended particulate phase (elutriate) tests with bivalve embryos, and bioaccumulation tests with bivalves and polychaetes. This project includes extensive characterization of both sediment, sediment elutriate, and sediment porewater chemistry. |
